Germs and bacteria are not only a health hazard, they are also responsible for odours. The advantages of antibacterial yarns are therefore indispensable in order to be protected in everyday working life as well as in leisure time. Other sectors, such as the food industry, are also increasingly relying on the use of special yarns.

It is important that the antibacterial and antimicrobial effect is retained even after many wash cycles. Our yarns are used in the medical sector, such as in workwear for doctors and nursing staff, but also in linen for operating theatres, hospital beds and care facilities. Due to the odour-reducing effect of antibacterial yarns, they are also a fixed component in the area of corporate fashion or sportswear.

Economical use of resources, the smallest possible CO2 footprint or the highest possible degree of recycling are the order of the day in all sectors of our economy today. Textile solutions also make an important contribution here. Among other things, they are also based on biodegradable yarns. This means that at the end of the use chain, the yarn must be able to be dissolved back into its elementary components, i.e. carbon, oxygen, hydrogen and other minerals, through the use of micro-organisms. Then it is considered biodegradable. The advantage of such yarns also lies in their wearer comfort, such as through higher moisture absorption.

Flame retardant yarns are used here. They ensure that, on the one hand, the flammability of the fabrics is minimised, and, on the other hand, thermal shrinkage is also reduced. However, this functionality is not only important in protective clothing. It should also be present in other textile applications, such as the area of fine tights and other textiles that lie close to the skin. Last but not least, flame-retardant properties of textiles and fabrics are also very often required in industry in order to meet certain protection classes and comply with standards.

Wenn immer ein textiles Gewebe besonderen Beanspruchungen standhalten muss, dann kommen hochfeste Garne zum Einsatz. Etwa im Automotive-Bereich bei Sicherheitsgurten oder bei persönlicher Schutzausrüstung, Arbeitsbekleidung oder auch in verschiedenen industriellen Anwendungen sind hohe Belastungen, Materialbeständigkeit oder möglichst geringe Verformung entscheidende Eigenschaften, die den Einsatz von hochfesten Garnen voraussetzen.

For example, in the automotive sector for safety belts or personal protective equipment, workwear and also in various industrial applications, high loads, material resistance and the lowest possible deformation are decisive properties that require the use of high-strength yarns. They prevent material fatigue, damage and even fabric breakage. However, high-strength yarns must also be able to withstand environmental influences such as moisture and temperature under certain load requirements without the material changing or losing its properties. High strength and resilience are therefore the most important properties based on high-tenacity yarns.

Die komprimierende Wirkung entsteht durch die spezielle Verarbeitung bzw. das Umwinden von elastischen mit einem tragenden Bestandteilen. Je nach gewünschter Festigkeit bzw. Elastizität des Endproduktes kommen verschiedenen Garne in der Verarbeitung zum Einsatz.

Andererseits ermöglicht sie eine Anwendung in Bereichen, in denen bis dato entweder mit anderen Materialien (zB mit Metallkabeln) gearbeitet wurde oder wo es bisher keine taugliche Lösung gab. Leitfähige Garne sind so beispielsweise aus der Sensortechnik in Kleidungsstücken durch den Einsatz als Nähgarn nicht mehr wegzudenken. Sie sind die Basis für Smart-Textiles in Sports- und Workwear, im Gesundheitsbereich, in der Mode oder bei Heimtextilien.

Auch in der Industrie werden leitende bzw. ableitende Garne immer häufiger eingesetzt. So werden in Kabeln statt Metallkerne immer häufiger leitende Garne verwendet, da sie wesentlich biegsamer und flexibler sind. Die Automobilindustrie nützt diese Möglichkeit für unterschiedliche Einsatzgebiete. Auch für die Produktion von Aktoren, Sensoren oder textilen Leiterbahnen kommen diese Spezialgarne zum Einsatz.

Das Recycling von Textilien findet derzeit noch in relativ geringem Ausmaß statt. Zwar werden gebrauchte Kleidungsstücke durch Sammelsysteme einer Zweit- oder Drittnutzung zugeführt. Aber die echte Rückführung von Textilien in ihre Bestandteile scheitert oft an der Zusammensetzung der Rohprodukte. Hier können recyclebare Garne einen wichtigen Beitrag zur Ökobilanz leisten. Dabei ist entscheidend, dass ein Stoff wieder in seine ursprünglichen Bestandteile, sprich Garne rückführbar ist und diese in der Folge entsprechend weiterbearbeitet bzw. verwertet werden können.

Ein weiterer Aspekt von recyclebaren Garnen ist, dass sie natürlich bessere Eigenschaften in puncto Hautverträglichkeit haben. Sie werden deshalb gerne im Bereich von Feinstrumpfhosen oder im Flachstrick eingesetzt.

Wir alle kennen die kühlende oder wärmende Wirkung von natürlichen Materialien wie Merino, Seide oder Leinen. Stoffe, die im Sommer kühlend wirken und im Winter einen wärmenden Effekt haben, kommen in vielen Bereichen zum Einsatz: in der Mode genauso wie bei Funktionsbekleidung für diverse In- und Outdoor-Sportarten, aber auch im medizinischen Bereich oder bei Heimtextilien wie beispielsweise Bettwäsche.

Die Basis für diese Wirkung sind spezielle Garne, die wir beispielsweise aus Acryl oder Aramid fertigen. Sie werden sowohl in umwundenen wie auch in luftverwirbelten Garnen verarbeitet, um die gewünschte Funktion bei der späteren Weiterverarbeitung zu gewährleisten.
